Mark Herbster wears USMC Uniform and Combat Metals.
The closest Herby ever was to either 12 weeks of Marine boot camp or combat was singing in the Bob Jones University Choral.
So there you have it folks. Two men played dress up for kids in a supposedly misguided attempt to show respect for our US Military. Yet these two dishonored the Uniforms.
It is illegal to dress in a military uniform that wasn’t earned. This is not be covered under the Stolen Valor Act the Supreme Court recently struck down.
10 USC CHAPTER 45 – THE UNIFORM

-STATUTE-
Except as otherwise provided by law, no person except a member of the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine Corps, as the case may be, may wear -
(1) the uniform, or a distinctive part of the uniform, of the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine Corps; or
(2) a uniform any part of which is similar to a distinctive part of the uniform of the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine Corps.
The full statute may be read here.
One more thing of note. The man in civilian clothes in both pictures is Monty Kaufman. Yes, that Monty Kaufman of Kids4Truth. How ironic is that?.
I bet the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) would be interested in this information. Go to this website and scroll down to “Impersonating a Service Member.”
The following is a comment posted by an individual on facebook concerning this:
“ For those who say it’s no big deal: The trouble with being a literalist and a legalistic is that one’s critics will hold you to your own high standard of others.”
